We invite you to stop in and tell us about your ride. We have free flyers and information about the route. We also keep Triple Nickel, 555 memorabilia like patches, pins, and shirts in-stock to showcase your trip.
Triple Nickel Patch

The 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion was nicknamed the "Triple Nickles" because of its numerical designation and the selection of 17 of the original 20-member "colored test platoon" from the 92nd Infantry (Buffalo) Division. Hence, the origin of the nickname, Buffalo Nickles. Not to be confused with the U.S. 5-cent coin that had a bison (buffalo) on it, which was first minted long before the war, the spelling derives from old English. Three buffalo nickels joined in a triangle or pyramid is the identifying symbol.[8]
It feels like we need to celebrate riding more than ever before. That's why in 2021, we launched the Ride Patch Collection. When you ride in one of the Patch Rides you get a FREE patch. We've picked dealership-scheduled rides, charity rides, and staple Ohio motorcycle destinations to make up our collection.
Below you can preview the entire collection and learn how to earn each patch. Some are earned simply by showing up to the dealership and riding with us, some are a self-led journey where you use our app to check-in. See below for a detailed FAQ.
To earn a self-led patch, just email a photo of your bike at the designated location to photos@ohiohd.com. Include your name, the name of your passenger if you had one, your contact info, and which dealership you'd like to pick your patch up from!
A: When you participate in any of the rides above, by riding your motorcycle or as a passenger on a motorcycle, you will get a patch! There are multiple scheduled rides that leave from our dealerships. You will come to the dealership on that date and sign up and RIDE. The last 6 patches that are marked with a * can be earned when you sign up for our dealership app, ride to those locations and use the app to "check-in"!
A: For the dealership scheduled rides, all patches will be ordered afterward. For the destinations, we will place orders monthly throughout the season. You can sign up to be notified via text message when patches come in - sign up by texting "PATCH" to 64600. We will also post on Facebook when they arrive! Your patches will be located at the dealership you rode from or the dealership whose app you have installed.
A: The only way to EARN a patch is by riding a motorcycle during the ride, either as a rider or passenger. If weather is an issue, we will make the call to cancel or reschedule. However, oftentimes, patch rides will go on as scheduled. Stay posted to our social media pages for more details.
The size and order quantity determine the price of your patch. We do not charge extra for multiple colors of thread and our prices are quoted with Velcro included. Subtract $0.25 for any patches without Velcro.
Once your artwork is final, we will create a free sample patch and email a digital photo for your approval. The majority of our patch designs are approved via email. We are happy to mail the actual physical patch sample to you for a sample charge of $25.00, which will take 1-2 weeks to arrive.
Depending on the size of your patch, we can actually accomplish very detailed replication of your artwork using embroidered thread. Small, intricate details will not stitch accurately and simpler is often better. Facial features and extremely small text are especially challenging. Cartoonish images stitch quite well and we do a great job with aircraft and weapons.
We have a minimum order quantity of 50 patches, and you can reorder as few as 25 patches. The minimum quantity for our patches applies to each design. This is because each design requires a different digitized image that instructs the machine how to stitch your patch. We do offer discounts on the same patch design in different colors, such as a color patch and a companion desert or OCP patch.
Your patch price includes 12 colors at no additional charge. We will use as many colors as needed to make you the best quality patch and we will not nickel and dime you for additional colors. Most companies charge an extra $0.15 per color for more than 7 colors.
If the cause of your rash isn't apparent, however, your doctor may recommend a patch test (contact hypersensitivity allergy test). He or she may refer you to an allergy specialist (allergist) or a skin specialist (dermatologist) for this test.
During a patch test, very small quantities of potential allergens (including nickel) are applied to your skin and covered with small patches. The patches remain on your skin for two days before the doctor removes them. If you have a nickel allergy, the skin under the nickel patch will be inflamed when the patch is removed or in the days after removal of the patch.
The first step in treating nickel allergy is avoiding contact with the metal. There's no cure for nickel allergy. Once you develop a sensitivity to nickel, you'll develop a rash (contact dermatitis) whenever you come into contact with the metal.
This treatment involves exposing your skin to controlled amounts of artificial ultraviolet light. It's generally reserved for people who haven't gotten better with topical or oral steroids. It can take months for phototherapy to have an effect on a nickel allergy reaction.
You may use some of the following treatments at home to treat contact dermatitis due to nickel allergy. If these treatments don't help or the rash worsens, contact your doctor. Home remedies include the following:
You're likely to see your family doctor first if you're experiencing an itchy rash that may be related to nickel allergy. Preparing for your appointment can help you make the most of your time with your doctor.

What a great Ride!! If going south on the triple nickle it starts a little on the curvey side. But bye the time u get about 13 miles out of town u relize this isnt going to be an easy no pay atention ride. After hitting a few 25 mph turns u think that u have it down, suddenly it throughs u another 20 mph corner that isnt marked and your not ready for. But what a Ride!! Will do this one again. As for the rocks on the road. They didnt seem to be many at all when I was on it. If You get a chance take the time to enjoy this one! Fri Jan 11, 2013 at 9:09 AM 2ff7e9595c
